UNESCO marks the International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage on 17 October. The UNESCO page says the day is celebrated every 17 October around the world. The 42nd session of the General Conference proclaimed the day in November 2023, in resolution 42/34.
The organization's page for the day describes living heritage as dances, stories, craftsmanship, sports, foodways, arts, traditions, and festivities. It says these practices continue to evolve, provide knowledge about the environment, strengthen social ties, and open dialogue between generations and cultures. The page includes a poster for the 2026 observance, offered in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish, and it points to 2026 celebrations around the world.
Khaled El-Enany, UNESCO director-general, has a message for the day on that page. The page also names the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage as the instrument for this work.
The page does not describe the separate celebrations. It gives the date, the 2026 poster, and the place where those events are listed.
A positive test result can raise our assessment of the probability of a disease without settling the diagnosis. Two agreeing results can add less information than we expect. Bayesian reasoning shows how to weigh new evidence in diagnosis, in science, and in everyday news reading.
UN News reported the findings on 4 November 2026. UNCTAD says the war that shut the Strait of Hormuz in February pushed oil prices up everywhere, but the cost at the pump has been very uneven.
The figure amounts to some 240 million young people aged 11 to 17 who said they did not complete 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity on a single day.
