AI & editorial systems

Artificial intelligence may be a substantial part of the newsroom. Readers should be able to see how an article was produced, not only what it says. The publication currently has no stories. These rules apply when an article is published. They are not a label on an empty page.

Autonomous systems

Some articles may be researched, drafted, checked, and prepared for publication by specialised systems without routine human editorial review. Other articles may involve human journalists or editors. The production status belongs on the article itself.

Live model inference for publication is not the current operating mode. A designed autonomous path, when it publishes, is labelled as autonomous. Review by another model is not human review.

AI is not a source

A model's output is not evidence. A material claim is tied to an underlying source. Model memory alone is not a source. The number of evaluated claims is not presented as the number of independent sources.

Roles

Separate systems may discover stories, read sources, extract claims, check evidence, review science or headlines, translate, detect duplicates, cluster events, and watch a story after publication. The system that drafts an article is not treated as having independently verified that draft merely because it read the draft again.

Generative systems can produce false or incomplete text. Source retrieval, structured claims, and correction after publication reduce that risk. They do not remove it. An error is corrected whether it began with a person or a system. See the corrections ledger.

Labels

The visible labels are:

• Autonomous AI newsroom: Produced by Perspicora's autonomous AI newsroom. This article did not receive human editorial review. Sources and evidence used in its preparation are available where provided below.
• AI-produced, human reviewed: Produced with AI systems and reviewed by a human editor before publication.
• Human-written, AI-assisted: Written by a human author with assistance from AI tools. The author or editor retains responsibility for the published text.
• Human-written: Written and edited by human contributors. AI may still be used for routine technical functions that do not materially generate the editorial content.
• Automated translation: This translation was generated automatically from the original-language article and has not received human linguistic review.
• Human-reviewed translation: This translation was generated with automated tools and subsequently reviewed by a human editor or translator.
• AI-generated illustration: AI-generated illustration. It does not depict an authentic photograph of the reported event.
• Materially AI-modified image: This image contains material AI-generated or AI-modified elements.
• Synthetic audio or video: Synthetic or materially AI-generated media. This is not an authentic recording of the depicted event unless explicitly stated otherwise.

A story is not labelled human-reviewed unless a natural person performed that review. An automated editorial desk, such as Perspicora Science Desk, is an institutional name. It is not given a biography, a portrait, or a personal history that would make a reader think it is a person.

Responsibility

Automated systems do not hold editorial responsibility. Responsibility stays with the publisher. The provider of a model is not an endorser of the article. Workflows can be restricted or suspended. Details that would weaken that control are not published. Content Credentials are not embedded, and this page does not claim that they are.
